Wie nicht wirklich anders zu erwarten war, ziehen die Produzenten einen Schlussstrich unter das Kapitel “The Pirate Queen am Broadway”. Bereits am 17. Juni fällt der letzte Vorhang für das Musical von Alain Boublil und Claude-Michel Schönberg. Moya Doherty und John McColgan in ihrer Funktion als Produzenten in einem offiziellen Statement:

We are proud of The Pirate Queen and the talented cast and creative team that has brought this epic musical to Broadway. We are also pleased to report that there is international interest in Pirate Queen productions. Plans for a European English-language production are underway and will be announced in the near future.”

Was in den Broadwaystatistiken aufscheinen wird, liest sich eher nüchtern: “The Pirate Queen”: 32 Previews, 85 Vorstellungen. Nun ist es offiziell: ein Flop.
