Die “Longest-Running Productions”-Charts wird John Kanders, Fred Ebbs und Bob Fosses Musical “Chicago” ab dem 27. August 2011 zwar nicht anführen, aber es wird ab diesem Stichtag auf Platz 4 liegen und mit 6138 Vorstellungen das dann fünftplatzierte “A Chorus Line” (6137 Vorstellungen) überholt haben.
Auf den Plätzen 1 bis 3 finden sich dann nur mehr die “Feinde” der Broadway-Community, die Musicals der Invasoren aus England und Frankreich:
1. “The Phantom of the Opera” (9810 Vorstellungen)
2. “Cats” (7485 Vorstellungen)
3. “Les Misà©rables” (6680 Vorstellungen)
Produzent Barry Weissler ist außer sich vor Freude und meint:

Das erfolgreiche “Chicago”-Revival feierte am 14. November 1996 seine Broadway-Premiere im Richard Rodgers Theatre mit Ann Reinking als Roxie Hart, Bebe Neuwirth als Velma Kelly, James Naughton als Billy Flynn, Joel Grey als Amos Hart und Marcia Lewis als Matron “Mama” Morton.
Am 11. Februar 1997 übersiedelte die Produktion ins Shubert Theatre, und sechs Jahre später, am 29. Januar 2003, gings ab ins Ambassador Theatre, wo es auch heute noch zu sehen ist.
