Fünf Jahre war Celine Dion im Colosseum des Caesars Palace von Las Vegas mit ihrer Live-Show “A New Day …” jeweils Mittwoch bis Samstag zu Gast, am 15. Dezember 2007 läuft ihr Vertrag aus. Bereits zwei Monate später, nämlich am 20. Februar 2008, startet ein wahrer Showgigant im 4.100 Sitze-Entertainment-Tempel neu durch: Bette Midler.
2 Jahre lang wird “The Divine Miss M” 20 Wochen pro Jahr 5 Shows die Woche spielen, Elton John wird wie bisher auch 2008 ca. 50 Konzerte im Colosseum bestreiten.
Bette Midler hat scheinbar von ihrem langjährigen musikalischen Partner Barry Manilow gelernt, denn sie begründet ihren Vertrag mit dem Caesars Palace fast mit denselben Worten wie er: “It just seemed like this was the next step. After wrapping a string of 2005 dates, I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great to set the show down somewhere?’”
Was kann man von Bette Midler in Vegas erwarten? Midler: “This is a chance to have lots of gorgeous girls in skimpy costumes. I love feathers and rhinestones and high heels. If it glitters, I’ve got to have it. I want this to be the funniest show on the Strip. The sticking point is that it’s a short show, so while there will be things people want you to do, you can’t do everything.” [Story]
