In einem Interview mit Suzanna Clarke von “Courier Mail” bestätigt Andrew Lloyd Webber, dass er weiter intensiv am Sequel seines Musicals “The Phantom of the Opera” arbeitet.
So how do you follow what is not only the most successful musical but entertainment event, ever? “The sequel has taken me 15 years,” he says. “The Phantom story is so great, it’s been hard to find another that will match it. And I get frustrated when I can’t find a story; I talk myself into doing things that aren’t as good. But this one is – I’m very excited about it.”
He is working with renowned comedian and novelist Ben Elton. “He’s really got under the skin of all the characters. It’s set in America (Manhattan), 10 years after the original, and Christine has a 10-year-old child. The director will be Jack O’Brien, who did The Full Monty and Hairspray.”
A date hasn’t been set for the premiere, as it isn’t finished.
