Zu 60 Tagen Gefängnis und 3 Jahren Bewährung wurde der amerikanische Musicaldarsteller James Barbour (”Assassins”, “Urinetown”, “Jane Eyre”, “Carousel”, “Cyrano - The Musical” und “Beauty and the Beast”) verurteilt. Barbour hatte sich im Zuge seiner Gerichtsverhandlung schuldig bekannt. Er gab zu, ein 15-jähriges Mädchen unsittlich berührt zu haben, als es ihn im Jahre 2001 nach einer Vorstellung des Musicals “Jane Eyre” backstage besucht hat - und als es ihn danach in seinem New Yorker Apartment aufgesucht hat.

Das Mädchen gab zu Protokoll:

I struggled with complete lack of self-esteem, panic attacks, and put considerable distance between my family and friends for years. I had always blamed myself and felt like I had done something wrong. . . [The sentencing will hopefully] prevent him from even thinking of touching another child again.

Ronald P. Fischetti, Barbours Anwalt, gab während der Verhandlung folgendes Statement ab :

The victim exchanged dozens of friendly e-mails for nearly four years after their last sexual encounter … and thanked Barbour for his mentoring and help in meeting people.
