Am 22. August 2009 findet die London-Premiere der Bühnenversion des Disney-Fernsehhits “High School Musical 2″ statt. Die Besetzung der männlichen Hauptrolle, Troy, wird am 8. Mai fixiert, nämlich dann, wenn ein Fernsehcasting sein glorioses Finale hinter sich gebracht haben wird.

Der englische Fernsehsender GMTV wird die Castingshow Anfang Mai senden, die Auditions dafür finden am 19. und 20. April 2009 in London statt.

Die Bühnenversion wird nach der Premiere im Londoner New Wimbledon Theatre auf England/Irland-Tour gehen. Bis Januar 2010 sind Stationen in Plymouth, Sheffield, Oxford, Ipswich, Brighton, Wolverhampton, Southampton, Leeds, Belfast und Birmingham fixiert.

Produziert wird das Musical von Stage Entertainment UK Ltd. gemeinsam mit Disney Theatrical Productions. Die TV-Sendung “High School Musical 2″ haben seit der Erstausstrahlung im September 2007 weltweit über 273 Millionen Menschen gesehen.
