Lange hat es nicht gedauert. Connie Fisher (23), die 2006 die Rolle der “Maria” in der aktuellen West-End-Produktion von “The Sound Of Music” im Rahmen einer TV-Castingshow “gewonnen” hat, war nach 98 Vorstellungen k. o.
Acht Vorstellungen die Woche, Autogrammstunden bei jedem Wetter, das hält ein Castingstar eben nicht durch.
Andrew Lloyd Webber, ganz aufgehend in seinem Bestreben, das TV-Format zu retten, nimmt alle Schuld auf sich:

“Connie did an injury to her throat muscle because she got a cold and she tried to sing through a cold. She did 98 performances and was determined to do eight performances a week and should have done the six performances we originally announced. And she was signing autographs for 400 people in the cold. You have to protect them. The public think they own her now. Connie feels a responsibility to be the people’s Maria.”

Nach zwei Wochen Erholungspause ist Fisher nun wieder auf der Bühne, ihre Auftritte hat sie auf sechs pro Woche reduziert. Mittlerweile sucht Sir Andrew fleißig weiter: Es gilt, ein paar neue Josephs zu finden. [Story]
