“Next to Normal”, das Rockmusical von Tom Kitt und Brian Yorkey, wurde mit dem Pulitzer-Preis in der Kategorie “Drama” ausgezeichnet und konnte sich damit gegen “The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity” von Kristoffer Diaz, “Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo” von Rajiv Joseph und “In the Next Room or the vibrator play” von Sarah Ruhl durchsetzen.
Die Preisträger erhalten neben all der Ehre eine Anerkennung finanzieller Art in der Höhe von 10.000 Dollar und reihen sich in eine Liste ziemlich bekannter Kollegen ein. Eine Aufstellung der Gewinner der letzten Jahrzehnte würde wie folgt aussehen:
