LOS ANGELES — Academy Awards voters could be kicked out under new rules intended to tone down aggressive Oscar campaigning.
The new penalty — expulsion or suspension from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — is aimed mainly at studio executives and staff who oversee efforts to position their films for Oscar contention. But it also could apply to nominees themselves, including actors, directors and writers. [story]

Dead Zone, Stephen Kings frühes Meisterwerk, läuft derzeit in den USA in der zweiten Saison als TV-Serie. Die Hauptrolle mimt Ex-Geek Anthony Michael Hall, der damit sein Comeback auf die Reihe bekam. Hall ist durch Teenie-Flicks wie “The Breakfast Club” oder “Weird Science” zum Star geworden, konnte jedoch als “Erwachsener” nicht mehr an seine Erfolge der 1980-er Jahre anschließen. Psychische Probleme machen ihm bis heute zu schaffen, dennoch ist er nun wieder auf bestem Weg, über den Umweg einer TV-Serie weltweit durchzustarten.
