“West Side Story” - mit Taylor Swift, Cobra Starship, Katy Perry, Ne-Yo u. a.

Eine Parodie auf “Tonight” aus dem Musical “West Side Story”, das bietet der Fernsehsender MTV auf seiner Promotion-Website für die anstehenden MTV Video Music Awards. Ganz nett geworden. Zum Video geht’s –> hier

“Floss” - das neue Musical von THE WHO

The songs are interspersed with surround-sound ’soundscapes’ featuring complex sound-effects and musical montages. FLOSS will be a son-et-lumià©re musical piece, intended for outdoor performance, or arenas. FLOSS will be heard in concert for the first time in 2011, at a venue and date yet to be established. I am already having talks with producers in New York.

The collected music and sound for FLOSS convey the story of a married couple whose relationship gets into difficulty. Walter, a straight-cut pub rock musician, is able to retire when one of his songs becomes the TV anthem of a big car company. He becomes a house-husband while his wife Floss devotes herself to a riding stables and stud. When he tries to return to music after a fifteen year hiatus, he finds that what he hears and what he composes evoke the ecologically rooted, apocalyptic mindset of his generation. Shaken by this and torn by personal difficulties, he and Floss become estranged. A series of dramatic events in a hospital emergency ward bring them both to their senses.

FLOSS touches on the current issues faced by the Boomer generation. It also addresses their uneasy relationship with their parents, children and grandchildren. As a 19 year old – with My Generation – I wrote the most explicitly ageist song in rock. At 64, I now want to take on ageing and mortality, using the powerfully angry context of rock ‘n’ roll.

Queen-Musical “We Will Rock you” als iPhone-Game

Die Theater konnte die Rockformation Queen mit ihrer Show “We Will Rock You” erobern, nun werden neue Rekorde angestrebt. Beispielsweise die Produktion des “first ever theatrical iPhone App”.

Worum gehts?

‘We Will Rock You - The Game’ is a management simulator which puts the user to the test as the show’s producer. By making the right decisions the user’s goal is to take the production of the smash hit musical We Will Rock You from a small school hall right up to the real venue at London’s Dominion Theatre.

Also sprach Caspar Richter …

New York: Premiere für “Gay Bride of Frankenstein”

As the music starts the stage is taken over by a graphic novel projected on a large screen showing a wedding day and the new bride crying through most of the ceremony. The groom is so busy grinning ear to ear in anticipation of the wedding night that he doesn’t notice the tears of sadness from behind her veil. A mysterious girl sits at the back of the nearly empty church. She finds she simply can’t watch anymore and runs out of the church as the vows are exchanged. The groom tries to take his bride by force on their wedding night but, overwhelmed by grief, she sets herself and the bed ablaze. He escapes his bride’s fiery tomb crying out to his lost love as her soul goes straight to hell, setting the course of his destiny to bring her back no matter the cost.

Jump ahead to the present out of the comic book and onto the stage and we find ourselves in reality in a high school biology class on Halloween. A strange teacher, Mr. Weatherspoon is subbing for the day. Oddly, rather than sticking to the syllabus, he reads to the class from Mary Shelley’s «Frankenstein.” The roomful of seniors is made up of the sweet, virginal Chloe, determined to be a good girl until marriage. Then there’s her boyfriend Thad who’s already decided on the fraternity he wishes to join the following year. The main requirement for joining Gamma Alpha Epsilon is that Thad must not show up with his virginity intact. Meanwhile, Chloe’s best friend Edna has long since realized that her love for Chloe goes beyond the affection typically felt between two best friends, pining she sings, «Will You be my Abomination.”

Much to everyone’s chagrin, the Halloween Dance is canceled due to inclement weather. However,
strange Mr. Weatherspoon invites the whole bunch to the annual «Monsters Ball,” a celebration with a band called the Monster Makers. Chloe, Edna, Thad and Chloe’s brother Hairy decide to make the long drive to the show and that very night becomes the first night of the rest of their lives!

Oktober 2009 gegeben.
